Job summary

Esteem South Academy is looking for an experienced SEN/AP Teaching Assistant to join the team in September. The role is full-time, initially 12-week temporary with potential for permanent placement.

You will support students with additional needs, helping them engage with learning and develop confidence within a safe, inclusive environment. The successful candidate will have TA experience, a focus on SEN/AP, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant is essential.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN and/or in AP settings is required.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students.
  • Assist with delivery of tailored learning activities.
  • Support students with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Encourage engagement and participation in lessons.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs?

We are currently recruiting for a SEN / AP Teaching Assistant to join Esteem South Academy in DE11. This is a full-time position starting in September, initially on a 12-week temporary basis with the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate.

You will work closely with students who require additional support, helping them to engage with learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. This role will involve supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those within Alternative Provision (AP) settings.

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students
  • Assisting with the delivery of tailored learning activities
  • Supporting students with social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Encouraging positive engagement and participation in lessons
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant is essential
  • Experience supporting students with SEN and/or within an Alternative Provision setting
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Access to your own vehicle
  • Business insurance (or willingness to obtain prior to starting)
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
