Job summary

Leonardo is seeking an Airworthiness Approvals Lead to support the Future Combat Air (FCA) programme. Reporting to GCAP Chief Airworthiness Engineer, you will sustain DAOS and develop a new approvals framework, enabling future GCAP needs.

This hybrid role covers UK sites including Basildon and requires travel to partner sites. The ideal candidate holds an aerospace master's and hands-on UK MAA/EASA regulatory experience, with strong technical writing capabilities.

Qualifications

• Aerospace engineering background with airworthiness certification focus.
• Experience with UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA) or civil equivalents (EASA/CAA).
• Experience developing and maintaining Design Organisation Approval Expositions (DAOS).
• Solid knowledge of airworthiness regs: MRP, EMAR Part 21, DO-178/254 (as applicable).
• Experience supporting design reviews, audits and regulatory meetings.
• Ability interpreting regulator notices affecting DAOS Exposition and processes.
• Strong technical writing for safety reports and certification submissions.

Responsibilities

• Represent Leonardo in GCAP forums as an Airworthiness SME.
• Maintain knowledge of UK EMAR Part 21 and EASA/CAA frameworks.
• Collaborate with GCAP Chief Airworthiness Engineer and international partners in DETO.
• Work with Design Integrity and Safety leads to ensure consistent approach.
• Maintain and assess DAOS Exposition changes and regulatory publications.
• Monitor regulatory environment changes and advise response.
• Develop tri-national approach with GCAP Edgewing and G2E partners.
