Job summary

Leonardo is seeking an Airworthiness Approvals Lead to sustain the DAOS and develop a new approval framework for the GCAP programme. The role is hybrid and can be based at Newcastle, Edinburgh, Luton, Bristol, Lincoln, Basildon or Southampton with travel to partner sites.

You will work with UK MAA, EASA and international partners to ensure compliant airworthiness processes across the GCAP line of business, leading regulatory activities and documentation.

Qualifications

• Master’s level qualification in aerospace engineering.
• Hands-on experience with UK MAA or civil equivalents (EASA/CAA) in airworthiness certification.
• Experience developing and maintaining DOA Expositions.
• Solid knowledge of airworthiness regulations (UK MAA MRP, EASA CS-25, EMAR Part 21, MIL‑HDBK‑516).
• Experience supporting design reviews, audits, regulatory meetings.
• Ability to interpret regulator notices and assess impacts on exposition.

Responsibilities

• Represent Leonardo in GCAP forums as Airworthiness DOA SME.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory environments and update DAOS Exposition as needed.
• Collaborate with DETO and GCAP partners in Office of Airworthiness & Qualification activities.
• Work with Design Integrity Chief Engineers to ensure a consistent approach.
• Monitor regulatory changes and advise on responses.
