Job summary

Leonardo in the UK seeks an Airworthiness Approvals Lead to sustain the DAOS framework and support the GCAP programme across UK sites.

Hybrid role across Newcastle, Edinburgh, Luton, Bristol, Lincoln, Basildon or Southampton with travel to partner sites; requires master’s in aerospace and MAA/EASA experience.

Join a team delivering airworthiness certification for several platforms with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and cross-national collaboration.

Qualifications

• Background in aerospace engineering with airworthiness certification expertise.
• Proven experience with UK MAA or EASA/CAD airworthiness certification processes.
• Experience developing Design Organisation Approval Expositions (DAOS).
• Solid knowledge of airworthiness regulations (MAA MRP, EASA CS-25, Def Stan 00-970, EMAR Part 21, MIL-HDBK-516).
• Experience supporting design reviews, audits, and regulatory meetings.
• Ability to interpret regulator amendments and impacts on DAOS Exposition and processes.
• Excellent technical writing and review skills for safety reports and certification submissions.

Responsibilities

• Represent Leonardo in GCAP forums on Design Organisation Approvals as SME.
• Maintain knowledge of UK/European regulatory environments for airworthiness.
• Collaborate with GCAP Chief Airworthiness Engineer and international partners.
• Coordinate with Design Integrity and Safety leads for consistent approaches.
• Maintain and assess DAOS Exposition changes and regulatory publications impact.
• Monitor regulatory environment changes and advise on responses.
• Work with GCAP Edgewing and G2E to develop tri-national airworthy delivery strategies.
