Job summary

White Recruitment is seeking an experienced Air Freight Operator in Manchester to manage shipments end-to-end, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

You will handle import/export and cross-trade air freight, booking with airlines, customs clearance and documentation, and building strong customer relationships while driving opportunities for growth. Salary up to £38,000 depending on experience, with a supportive team and clear progression.

Qualifications

• End-to-end air freight forwarding experience.
• Strong knowledge of import/export operations.
• Customs clearance experience; CDS knowledge advantageous.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
• Experience using CargoWise is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Own air freight shipments from start to finish.
• Book cargo with airlines and overseas partners.
• Manage customs clearance and shipping documentation.
• Liaise with customers, carriers and overseas agents.
• Provide quotations and follow up on opportunities.
• Costing, invoicing and maintaining shipment records.

Are you an experienced Air Freight Operator looking to join a growing freight forwarding business where your experience is valued and your career can genuinely progress?

We're working with a well-established, privately owned logistics provider with an excellent reputation for customer service, operational excellence and investing in its people. Due to continued growth, they're looking to add an experienced Air Freight Operator to their Manchester team.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of air freight shipments from start to finish, ensuring every movement is handled efficiently, compliantly and with exceptional customer service.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing import, export and cross-trade air freight shipments
• Booking cargo with airlines and overseas partners
• Customs clearance and shipping documentation
• Liaising with customers, carriers and overseas agents
• Providing quotations and following up on opportunities
• Costing, invoicing and maintaining accurate shipment records
• Building strong customer relationships and identifying opportunities for account growth

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Previous end‑to‑end Air Freight forwarding experience
• Good knowledge of import and export operations
• Customs clearance experience (CDS knowledge advantageous)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
• Experience using CargoWise would be beneficial
