RGB Network is seeking an Air Conditioning Service Manager in Hertfordshire. You will lead a small team of engineers, oversee service operations and contribute to growth of the air conditioning division.

The role blends hands-on technical oversight with commercial decision-making and client engagement. The ideal candidate has strong air conditioning knowledge, prior leadership experience and a sound grasp of quotations, pricing and PPM contracts.

Qualifications

• Strong background in commercial air conditioning.
• Experience leading engineering teams.
• Ability to interpret technical reports and produce quotations.
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) contracts.
• Commercial awareness including labour costing, materials and margins.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and support a team of Air Conditioning Engineers.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for service and reactive maintenance.
• Review engineer reports and identify remedial actions.
• Coordinate service, maintenance and reactive works scheduling.
• Monitor workloads to ensure efficient delivery and compliance.
• Prepare quotations and pricing for servicing, reactive works, and small installations.
• Identify additional revenue opportunities from service visits and reports.
• Support planning, costing and delivery of larger projects.
• Source and manage subcontract labour as needed.
• Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers on technical matters and pricing.
• Ensure PPM schedules are delivered and compliant.
• Maintain industry standards and certifications.
• Support recruitment and development of engineering staff.
• Attend client meetings and provide technical expertise.
• Drive continuous improvement across service delivery.

Air Conditioning Service Manager

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Air Conditioning Service Manager to join a well-established and growing building services business based in Hertfordshire.

This role is ideal for a technically strong air conditioning professional looking to step into, or further develop, a leadership position. You will oversee a small team of engineers, manage service operations, support commercial activities, and play a key role in the growth and development of the air conditioning division.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will have genuine influence over departmental strategy, operational improvements, and long-term growth plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and support a team of Air Conditioning Engineers.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance for service and reactive maintenance works.
• Review engineer reports and identify appropriate remedial actions.
• Coordinate and oversee service, maintenance and reactive works scheduling.
• Monitor engineer workloads to ensure efficient service delivery and contractual compliance.
• Prepare quotations and pricing for servicing, reactive maintenance, remedial works and small-scale installations.
• Identify additional revenue opportunities from service visits and engineer reports.
• Support the planning, costing and delivery of larger air conditioning projects.
• Source and manage subcontract labour where required.
• Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers regarding technical matters, parts availability, lead times and pricing.
• Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules are effectively managed and delivered.
• Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards, certifications and accreditations.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development of engineering staff.
• Attend client meetings and provide technical expertise when required.
• Drive continuous improvement across service delivery, processes and departmental performance.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

• Strong background within the commercial air conditioning industry.
• Previous experience in a Service Manager, Supervisor, Senior Engineer or similar leadership position.
• Excellent technical knowledge of air conditioning systems, maintenance and fault diagnosis.
• Experience managing or supervising engineering teams.
• Ability to interpret technical reports and produce accurate quotations.
• Strong understanding of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) contracts.
• Commercial awareness, including labour costing, materials, margins and project profitability.
• Good understanding of current industry regulations and compliance requirements.
• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

• Experience working with Mitsubishi and other leading HVAC manufacturers.
• Experience pricing remedial works, maintenance contracts and minor installations.

The Ideal Candidate
