The Economist Group's AI Platform team seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the Applied AI and Data Science group, a multidisciplinary team of AI Engineers, ML Engineers, NLP Engineers and Data Scientists.

In this player-coach role, you will own the health, delivery and growth of the team, stay hands-on with coding and architecture, and collaborate with the Head of AI and Data Engineering, product managers and stakeholders to turn AI ambitions into production-grade systems.

Responsabilités

• Lead and manage the Applied AI and Data Science team, across AI Engineers, ML Engineers, NLP Engineers and Data Scientists.
• Own health, delivery, and growth of the team, and provide hands-on contribution to work.
• Shape architecture and guide implementation of agentic AI, RAG, NLP and ML systems.
• Collaborate with Head of AI and Data Engineering, product managers and stakeholders to turn AI ambitions into production-grade systems.
• Ensure safe and reliable agents with proper tool permissions and guardrails.
