The Economist Group seeks an Engineering Manager to lead our Applied AI and Data Science team. You will own health, delivery and growth of the group, while hands-on contributing to code, architecture and implementation where it matters.

In this role you will work with AI/ML engineers, NLP experts and data scientists to build production-grade AI systems across the company, in a hybrid working setup with strong focus on responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• Track record as engineering manager or tech lead with AI/ML teams.
• Experience balancing hands-on contribution with people leadership and delivery ownership.
• Strong Python engineering background with LLM/agentic NLP and ML systems.

Responsabilités

• Lead and mentor AI/ML engineers and data scientists across projects.
• Own delivery planning, resourcing and priorities with product management.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Engineering, Security and Legal to define what done looks like.
