Job summary

Thought Machine in London is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team building cloud-native AI tooling and platforms. You will balance hands-on coding with people leadership, shaping roadmaps and delivery.

You will mentor engineers, drive data-driven decisions, recruit, and collaborate with product and other teams to advance Thought Machine’s platform strategy in a fast-growing fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering management experience in platform teams that include AI tooling and capabilities.
• Experience with cloud-native environments and modern stacks (Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure, Go/Python).
• Strong technical background to drive technical decisions and strong interpersonal skills for user communication.
• Ability to wear multiple Engineering Manager hats as the team evolves.
• Experience developing platforms/tools used by other engineers internally or externally.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in technical discussions and design reviews.
• Take a data-driven approach and measure team impact from user data.
• Understand needs and impediments of internal teams to identify solutions.
• Contribute to vision and strategy of platform area aligned with business goals.
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives from recruitment to processes.
• Develop engineers in the team and support career growth.
• Lead by example with code reviews and hands-on work.
