Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Model Governance Manager (Data Science) to lead AI governance across the model lifecycle, partnering with data scientists and governance stakeholders to enable responsible AI innovation.

You will own approvals, inventory management, regulatory compliance, and the evolution of a scalable governance framework, ensuring audit-ready documentation and robust risk management.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building, training, validating or deploying ML models.
• Interest in AI/model governance or related risk/compliance discipline.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage end-to-end processes.
• Ability to explain governance requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own and run day-to-day AI/model approval and review processes.
• Maintain the third-party software and model inventory as the authoritative record of models in development and production.
• Act as the primary day-to-day contact for AI software requesters, data scientists and model owners.
• Track and report on the health of the model portfolio and approval processes.
• Manage and improve governance products supporting approvals and inventory management.
• Identify opportunities for automation and self-service capabilities.
• Support the evolution of governance policies, standards, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for compliance and risk management.
