Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Model Governance Manager (Data Science) to run scalable AI governance processes that balance innovation with risk management. You will collaborate with data scientists, model owners and governance stakeholders to support approvals, inventory accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

In this role, you will drive end-to-end operational delivery, enhance governance products, pursue automation, and help evolve policies and risk methodologies.

Qualifications

• Data science background with hands-on ML experience.
• Experience in AI governance or model risk management.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to own processes end-to-end with structured records.
• Practical understanding of AI/data regulations and standards.
• Clear communication to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently on delivery while contributing to framework design.
• Exposure to model inventory, governance framework, or policy development.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day AI/model approval and review processes.
• Maintain model inventory as the authoritative record of models in development and production.
• Primary day-to-day contact for AI software requesters, data scientists and model owners navigating governance requirements.
• Track and report on health of the model portfolio and approval processes.
• Manage and improve governance products supporting approvals and inventory management.
• Identify opportunities for automation and self-service capabilities.
• Support evolution of governance policies, standards, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and support compliance and risk management activities.
