Job summary

Elsevier is seeking an AI Governance Manager to shape scalable governance processes in Data Science, partnering with data scientists, model owners and governance stakeholders to support model approvals and regulatory compliance.

You will manage model inventory, automation opportunities, and governance policy evolution, while ensuring audit-ready documentation and robust risk management across development and production environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in building, training, validating, or deploying ML models in a data-science or ML engineering role.
• Familiarity with AI/model governance, model risk management or related compliance activity.
• Strong organizational skills and end-to-end operational delivery experience.
• Knowledge of AI/data regulations and standards; ability to explain governance to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to longer-term governance framework design.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day AI/model approval and review processes with timely turnaround.
• Maintain model inventory and third-party AI software as authoritative records.
• Serve as primary contact for AI software requests and governance requirements.
• Track portfolio health and effectiveness of approval processes; report findings.
• Improve governance products supporting approvals and inventory management.
• Identify opportunities for automation and self-service capabilities.
• Support evolution of governance policies, standards, and risk methodologies.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for compliance and risk management.
