Job summary

commercetools is seeking a seasoned software engineer to own AI capabilities end-to-end, from data and context to an operable generative UI. You will ship and operate full-stack apps in production across frontend, backend, data, and ML components.

You will build agent loops, integration layers via MCP, and render model outputs into live UIs while grounding models in real data and retrieval systems. This role is a hybrid, London-based opportunity targeting senior AI-enabled product development.

Qualifications

• Shipped production software end-to-end for 5+ years.
• 2+ years building with LLMs in production.
• Hands-on with UI protocols (A2UI, AG-UI, MCP-UI) or similar.
• Strong data retrieval and embeddings knowledge.
• Proficient in SQL; comfortable with async/streaming.

Responsibilities

• Build agent loops and orchestration: tool use, structured outputs, business-rule enforcement, graceful failure
• Build the integration layer (via MCP) that lets agents securely call backend systems and business APIs
• Render model output into live, streamed, accessible UI via generative-UI protocols
• Ground models in real data: retrieval, embeddings, and feedback loops that actually close
• Treat evals as a first-class system - provable improvement, not vibes
• Take a capability from prompt-in-a-notebook to a measured, guard-railed production feature
