Job summary

Bruntwood, a UK commercial property group based in Manchester, is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build and deploy AI-enabled software. You’ll work on agents, RAG workflows and integrations with business systems, collaborating with a digital team to meet business needs.

You’ll own end-to-end use cases, create evaluation datasets, and ensure production readiness with APIs, MCP servers and data pipelines. A strong cloud background and proactive mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Background in Software Engineering, ideally within one organisation; experience with TypeScript or Python.
• Able to build AI-enabled software: agents, retrieval systems and integrations; experience with RAG and MCP.
• Automated testing, code review and CI/CD as part of a team.
• Experience calling large language models from production code with proper error handling and retries.
• Cloud experience (Google Cloud preferred) and collaboration with stakeholders to implement improvements.
• Proactive, ownership mindset and drive to influence change within the team.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy AI solutions: tool-using agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and workflows connected to business systems and data.
• Own use cases from system design through to production and post-launch review.
• Build evaluation datasets, measure accuracy and define where human review is needed.
• Build the surrounding software: APIs, integrations, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and data pipelines.
• Deploy and operate what you build, including containers, monitoring and running costs.
• Work within our security, data protection and AI governance requirements.
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code as part of everyday development.
• Help define how the team takes in, prioritises and measures its work.
