Hiiya in the United Kingdom is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead a 20-person to mid-sized engineering function. The role focuses on structure, accountability and modern practices, with hybrid work in West Yorkshire and monthly office visits.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership experience overseeing large software teams.
• Proven ability to manage senior engineers and technical leaders.
• Track record of improving delivery, quality and predictability.
• Ability to use engineering metrics to drive performance.
• Experience modernising practices with tooling, automation and AI.
• Strong collaboration with Product and senior stakeholders.
• Experience in SaaS/fintech or complex tech environments.
• Credible to challenge decisions without hands-on coding.
• Familiar with Azure, APIs, CI/CD and cloud practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Engineering Managers, Technical Leads and Engineers.
• Improve delivery predictability, quality and automation standards.
• Introduce engineering metrics and dashboards for visibility.
• Enhance CI/CD, testing strategies, release processes and governance.
• Champion AI-assisted engineering and modern development practices.
• Support roadmap planning, prioritisation and capacity management.
• Identify capability gaps and coach future leaders.
• Collaborate with Product and senior leadership on priorities.
• Contribute to platform consolidation and engineering modernisation.
