Mention Me is seeking a Head of Engineering in the Greater London area to lead a team of 8-10 frontend and backend engineers. This hands‑on role combines coding with leadership, shaping technical direction and building scalable processes across the stack.

You will work closely with data, product, and leadership to ensure AI-native practices raise quality and delivery speed, while growing the team and maintaining a pragmatic, trust-based culture. Hybrid work in London is offered.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of product engineering at a B2B SaaS company.
• Strong frontend (React/TypeScript) and backend (PHP/Symfony or similar) skills.
• Experience maintaining core infrastructure on AWS and GCP.
• Collaborates effectively with data engineering/science teams.
• Hands-on player-coach with proven delivery and growth track record.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 8-10 frontend and backend engineers in agile squads.
• Set technical direction and implement clear processes across the stack (Next.js/TypeScript frontend, PHP/Symfony backend on AWS).
• Drive AI-native practices, including AI-assisted coding and reviews.
• Develop data infrastructure fluency (BigQuery, dbt) with engineering and data teams.
• Be the visible technical leader, translating trade-offs for product and leadership.
• Own career development, progression and hiring for the team.
