Job summary

Janus Henderson Group seeks a senior engineering leader to guide the Application Engineering Guild and own strategic API platforms. You will drive AI-enabled engineering, nurture reusable patterns and ensure alignment with security, risk and enterprise architecture.

You will lead a specialist team, manage roadmaps, and collaborate with Solution Architecture, Cyber Security, and Procurement to deliver scalable, observable platforms.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on software engineering with leadership across multiple teams.
• Deep expertise in API and integration architecture, cloud platforms, quality and automation.
• Experience applying AI-assisted engineering beyond experiments.
• Translate ambiguous problems into validated technical approaches via research and prototyping.
• Lead shared technology platforms with roadmaps, lifecycle and developer experience.
• Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders beyond formal authority.
• Strong commercial and risk judgement with clear communication of trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver the guild’s roadmap for AI-enabled engineering, automation and modern software practices.
• Lead time-boxed research, proofs of concept and prototypes addressing opportunities and barriers.
• Frame problems with business sponsors, test assumptions and guide decisions.
• Contribute to complex experiments and solve technical challenges early.
• Develop integration patterns, reusable components and automated controls.
• Coach teams and improve shared tooling and patterns for team autonomy.
• Own Azure API Management and the BlackRock Aladdin API platform lifecycle and service outcomes.
• Ensure platform reliability, security, capacity, onboarding, cost transparency and vendor dependencies.
