Are you a Registered Nurse or Midwife (practising) with experience in a fast-paced clinical triage environment?

We'relooking for an Aftercare Nurse or Midwife to join our supportive & dedicated telephone triage team. This is a permanent, home-based, full-timerole working 37.5 hours per week.

Our team handles a high volume of calls each year,providing compassionate & efficient clinical triage, ensuring patientsreceive the right support & advice.

You'll berequired to work shifts on a flexible rotating schedule across a 24/7 service,including some evenings, weekends, & overnight shifts. Your rota is providedin advance however full flexibility is required.

As an Aftercare Nurse/Midwife, you will provide pre, during, & post-abortion, vasectomy, & sexual health triage over the phone. Your role will involve assessing patientconcerns, identifying potential complications, & providing appropriateclinical advice or referrals where necessary. This is a triage-focused role,ensuring patients receive timely guidance & support.

Every patient is different, & you must adapt yourapproach to meet their individual needs. You'll assess and provide medicaladvice to a varied patient group with a wide range of conditions and concerns.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide clinically safe triage care for patients with a broad range of questions & concerns before, during, & after their treatment
  • Book post-operative checks for patients who need follow-up care in clinic
  • Refer patients to our counselling service & safeguarding team when needed
  • Refer patients to A&E or their GP where appropriate
  • Make safeguarding risk assessments & referrals to social services or other relevant agencies if needed
  • Accurately update patient notes & inform clinics of any required follow-ups

About You

You'll be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 orMidwife (practising) with experience in midwifery triage, gynaecology, abortioncare, or a related acute setting. You'll need:

  • Experience in afast-paced,high-volume clinical triagesetting
  • Strong decision-making skills andconfidence in telephone-based clinical assessment
  • A broad clinical knowledge, withexperience working to guidelines, policies, & procedures
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency inMicrosoft Office
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication,and listening skills
  • The ability to work autonomously, makingsound clinical decisions while independently managing patient triage, andself-motivate in a home-based setting

This rolefully supports your NMC revalidation, ensuring you can maintain yourregistration while gaining valuable experience in clinical triage. Alltraining, patient interactions, & professional development will contributetowards your revalidation requirements.

Location: Home Based

Some travel to BPAS hub & unit locations around the UK will be required for the successful candidate in the first few months of employmentfor training and induction purposes.Visits to head office in Leamington Spa will be required for meetings & training, approximately twice a year)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: You will be required to work shifts across a service that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including some evening, weekend and overnight shifts. Schedules are provided in advance and discussed at interview.

Salary: £38,219 to £44,625 per annum - depending on skills and experience.

Qualifications
  • Adult Nurse Level 1 or Registered Midwife (Practising)
Experience
  • Post registration experience in primary/urgent care
  • Working to clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e. Sexual health,
Knowledge and Skills
  • Previous Nurse Triage/ Telephone advice experience
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication Skills
  • Listening Skills/ Ability to obtain and process information from any caller
  • Accurate administrative competence
