Job summary

Project Freelance is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design and implement software for test, measurement and control systems in aerospace and regulated environments. You will work with hardware and instrumentation across the lifecycle, from requirements through commissioning, with some UK and international travel involved.

The role requires strong C/C++, LabVIEW and TestStand skills, plus experience in software architecture, version control and testing.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND in software engineering, computer science, electronic engineering, systems engineering or related.
• Experience developing software for engineering, industrial or equipment-based applications.
• Proficiency in at least one language/environment such as C/C++, C#, LabVIEW, TestStand or Python.
• Understanding of software architecture and structured design.
• Experience with source control and documentation and test evidence.
• Ability to work across the software lifecycle with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Analyse system and software requirements and contribute to architecture, detailed design and technology selection.
• Develop software for automated and manual test, measurement, simulation and control applications.
• Produce maintainable, documented code and develop test sequences, operator interfaces, instrument drivers, data-processing functions, diagnostic tools and reports.
• Integrate software with instrumentation, data-acquisition hardware, switching systems, communications interfaces and units under test.
• Participate in the complete lifecycle, including requirements, feasibility, architecture, detailed design, implementation, unit testing, verification and validation.
