Job summary

Averna powered by Spherea designs, manufactures and supports complex test systems for aerospace, defence and other regulated industries. This engineering software role focuses on developing software for test, measurement, simulation and control, interacting with instrumentation and units under test throughout the lifecycle.

You will work with systems, hardware, electrical and project engineers from requirements through verification, commissioning and support, with some UK and international

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND in software engineering or related field.
• Experience developing software for engineering, industrial or equipment-based applications.
• Proficiency in C/C++, C#, LabVIEW, TestStand or Python.
• Understanding of software architecture and testing in an engineering context.
• Familiarity with source control and documentation, and the software lifecycle.
• Ability to travel occasionally in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Analyse requirements and contribute to architecture and design; develop test and control applications.
• Produce maintainable code and develop test sequences, instrument drivers and data-processing functions.
• Integrate software with hardware, data acquisition and communications interfaces.
• Reuse frameworks, modify or migrate software for legacy test systems.
• Support complete lifecycle from requirements to commissioning and in-service support.
• Contribute to reviews and maintain traceability between requirements and verification.
• Estimate effort, identify risks, and contribute to project plans and proposals.
• Apply version control and change-management; ensure safe releases and compliance.
• Define unit/integration/system tests and debug in lab and production environments.
• Support demonstrations, commissioning and site acceptance; assist customers.
