Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver robust designs using CATIA and NX CAD to high tolerances for aerospace applications. You will develop innovative mechanical design solutions and through-life improvements on smart motor and power generation tech.

You will produce and maintain CAD models, drawings, and parts lists, review work, and guide junior engineers while ensuring compliance with company standards and manufacturing requirements.

Qualifications

• Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering materials and production methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Create and support robust mechanical design solutions for R&D/R&T projects, meeting needs of business and customers.
• Deliver designs that meet Design to Cost and Design to Manufacture/Assembly requirements.
• Produce and maintain CAD models, drawings and parts lists in line with company standards.
• Act as focal point for engineering investigations across Manufacturing, Operations, Programs, Supply Chain and Quality.
• Mechanical design of in-service alterations and tooling with supporting docs.
• Review and approve design activities and provide guidance to junior engineers.
• Produce design assurance docs including reports, test procedures, stress calculations and tolerance analyses.
