Job summary

MGI Engineering Ltd in Witney, Oxfordshire, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team delivering cutting-edge solutions across aerospace, automotive, motorsport and marine sectors.

The role requires CAD modelling using NX or Catia, hand calculations, and producing detailed designs and drawings for manufacture, with collaboration across Aerodynamic and Stress teams and mentoring junior designers.

Qualifications

• Educated to minimum HND level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of experience in a relevant industrial environment.
• Sound knowledge of CAD modelling preferably Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
• Comfortable performing simple hand calculations to support designs.
• Understanding of manufacturing techniques of mechanical components and tooling.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas to different audiences.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Design and CAD modelling of mechanical components.
• Hand calculations to support designs.
• Analysing and interpreting customer requirements.
• Preparation of detailed designs and drawings for manufacture including tolerances.
• Interaction with Aerodynamic and Stress departments to ensure compliance with concept intent and structural integrity.
• Continuous development of designs and processes to maintain best practices.
• Lead and mentor junior designers to ensure standards are met.
• Support the Test team to explore and validate technical solutions.
