Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver robust mechanical designs for aerospace applications. You will work with CATIA and NX to high tolerances, developing through-life improvements on existing motor and power generation technologies.

The role requires a mechanical/aeronautical engineering background, strong materials knowledge, and the ability to lead design activities while collaborating across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of engineering materials and production methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration across teams.
• Experience delivering work packages and supervising engineers is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Create and support robust mechanical design solutions for R&D/R&D projects, ensuring designs are technically robust, fit for purpose, and meet business and customer needs.
• Deliver engineering solutions that meet Design to Cost and Design to Manufacture/Assembly requirements.
• Produce and maintain CAD models, drawings and parts lists compliant with company standards.
• Act as the focal point for engineering investigation support across Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Programmes, Supply Chain, Customer Support and Quality.
• Mechanical design of in-service product alterations and tooling, including supporting documentation.
• Review and approve design activities completed by yourself and other engineers.
• Produce Design Assurance documentation including design reports, test procedures, stress calculations, tolerance analyses and related engineering reports.
• Provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers within the team.
