Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its permanent engineering team in the aerospace sector. You will develop robust mechanical solutions, create CAD models and support testing, verification and production activities.

The role requires strong CAD skills, a mechanical engineering degree or equivalent, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while adhering to safety, quality and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Creating detailed 3D models, engineering drawings and design documentation using CAD
• Developing mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace applications
• Supporting design reviews, prototyping, testing and design verification activities
• Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver practical and reliable solutions
• Assessing designs against technical, safety, quality and regulatory requirements
• Investigating design issues and contributing to improvements throughout the product lifecycle
• Collaborating with manufacturing and supply chain teams to support efficient production

Job Requirements

• Experience in mechanical design within an aerospace, aviation, defence or advanced engineering environment
• Strong CAD skills, with the ability to produce accurate 3D models and technical drawings
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate requirements into effective designs
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving
• Understanding of design configuration, documentation and change control processes
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines
• Relevant mechanical engineering degree, apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification
