Job summary

Safran is recruiting for a Machinist at our Gloucester site. You will set up and operate a range of precision machine tools, interpret engineering drawings and maintenance manuals, and ensure components meet exact specifications.

Qualifications

Engineering apprenticeship or Level 3 NVQ desirable.
Experience operating manual and/or specialist machine tools within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate and optimise specialist machine tools including cylindrical grinding, planetary grinding, vertical boring, horizontal boring, turning and honing equipment.
Manufacture and repair aerospace components to precise engineering specifications
Prepare, install and secure fixtures, tooling and components safely and accurately
Interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals and technical specifications
Monitor machining operations and adjust machine parameters, feeds and speeds
Use a wide range of precision measuring equipment to verify component conformity
Diagnose machine and process issues, supporting corrective actions to minimise downtime
