Job summary

Safran is recruiting a Machinist to join our MRO site in Gloucester. You will set up, operate and maintain a range of precision machine tools to manufacture and repair aerospace components to exact specifications.

You'll read engineering drawings, interpret maintenance manuals and optimise machining parameters to ensure airworthiness and reliability across our customer products. Training and progression opportunities are available in a global aerospace group.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual and/or specialist machine tools within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of Cylindrical grinding, planetary grinding, boring, turning and honing techniques.
• Experience working to tight tolerances and detailed engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and optimise specialist machine tools including cylindrical grinding, planetary grinding, vertical boring, horizontal boring, turning and honing equipment.
• Manufacture and repair aerospace components to precise engineering specifications.
• Prepare, install and secure fixtures, tooling and components safely and accurately.
• Interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals and technical specifications.
• Monitor machining operations and adjust machine parameters, feeds and speeds.
• Use precision measuring equipment to verify component conformity.
• Diagnose machine and process issues, supporting corrective actions to minimise downtime.
