Make a Real Difference: Advanced Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about inclusive education and empowering children to overcome barriers to learning? Bell Farm Primary School is a vibrant, 3-form entry maintained primary school with a nursery, set in the heart of Walton-on-Thames. We are incredibly proud of our inclusive ethos and are home to The Hive, our on-site specialist centre dedicated to supporting children aged 4-11 with communication and interaction needs. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and caring Advanced Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated inclusion team.

The Role:

In this highly rewarding role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering targeted learning support to pupils who need extra help to thrive. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering, monitoring, and evaluating specific intervention groups.
  • Supporting our SENCo in coordinating provision for children with special educational needs.
  • Providing evidence of pupil progress to support class teachers and the SENCo.
  • Planning and organising learning activities, and preparing resources to suit pupil ability under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Promoting the well-being, social, and personal development of pupils to enhance their life skills and learning opportunities.
Who We Are Looking For:
  • An individual with a minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English and Maths), or equivalent.
  • Someone with a relevant Level 2 qualification (e.g., first aid at work, ADHD, behaviour management, advanced literacy, or NNEB) or equivalent practical experience.
  • A confident communicator with strong IT skills and the ability to build excellent relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive team player who can guide less experienced colleagues and independently organise their own workload.
Safeguarding & Safer Recruitment

Bell Farm Primary School is deeply committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; we expect all staff, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment.

In strict adherence to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) 2026 guidelines, our recruitment process is rigorous and evidence-based. Please note:

  • Vetting Checks: This role is subject to strict pre-employment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate with a Children’s Barred List check. If applicable, a childcare (disqualification) regulation staff declaration form will also be required.
  • Online Searches: As part of our due diligence and in line with KCSiE 2026, the school will conduct an online search (including a review of publicly available social media profiles) on all shortlisted candidates prior to interview. This helps us identify any incidents or issues that we may need to explore with you.
  • Application Process: To ensure a full and scannable employment history, CVs alone will not be accepted. All applicants must complete our application process, thoroughly accounting for any gaps in employment.
  • References: We will request robust professional references, which must explicitly comment on your suitability to work with children.

Bell Farm Primary School is an equal opportunities employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
