We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading space and defence organisation. In this role, you'll act as the main technical interface between Manufacturing and the Product Line/Integrated Project Team, ensuring that all designs align with manufacturing capabilities to meet quality, cost, and schedule targets.
Responsibilities
- Act as the main Manufacturing interface for assigned projects and product lines.
- Manage all aspects of New Product Introduction (NPI) into manufacturing and facilities.
- Deliver all Manufacturing Engineering inputs - including work instructions, routings, cost models, and proposals - in line with company processes.
- Identify and resolve manufacturing capability or facility limitations to ensure project success.
- Provide technical support for problem‑solving activities, including NCRs, IRBs/NRBs, and PPSs.
- Identify operational and technical risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Drive continuous improvement and process optimisation to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
- Champion Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfM/A) principles for new product introduction.
- Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Product Line Manufacturing strategy.
- Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing or Electronic Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years’ engineering experience within the space, aerospace, or military electronics sector.
- Strong understanding of high‑reliability electronics, surface‑mount technology (SMT), and RF product assembly.
- Familiar with all aspects of the project life cycle – from design to production – including programme control, risk management, and cost control.
- Experience working within high‑complexity, low‑volume production environments.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Systems such as CAD, CAM, MES, SAP, and Technical Publications.
- Demonstrable experience working effectively within a matrix team structure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Desirable: Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective actions.
- Desirable: Proactive and adaptable, with a proven ability to drive positive change within manufacturing environments.
