Job summary

Brook Street is recruiting an Administrator Officer (AO) for HMCTS Operational Support in Bristol. The role is full-time, office-based, with a 37-hour week and a pay rate of £13.25 per hour.

You will be the first point of contact for users, handle administrative duties for hearings, and signpost to the right support while ensuring accurate data handling and timely case processing.

Qualifications

• Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and handle delegated tasks to meet business priorities.
• Digital confidence with Microsoft Office and comfortable working with databases
• Strong communication skills to explain complex processes clearly, including in difficult or distressing situations
• Customer service mindset, resilience and professionalism, including when users have additional or complex needs
• Proactive problem-solving-prioritising your workload and taking prompt action within guidelines
• The ability to follow policies and protocols, making routine decisions and escalating complex matters when needed

Responsibilities

• Be a first point of contact for users through face-to-face support, telephone, webchat and written communications
• Prepare for, facilitate and complete administrative tasks for all types of hearings
• Use service scripts/knowledge to signpost people to the right support and provide clear, consistent information
• Manage enquiries and resolve routine issues to prevent delays to cases and services (escalating where appropriate)
• Handle case files with accurate data entry and secure information management, following retention and data loss protocols
• Support jury service tasks including selection, deferral, reassignment and attendance tracking (and related expenses/fees)
• Help with listing and scheduling, responding to urgent matters and following listing policies
• Contribute to practical building and safety checks (including logging issues) under guidance
• Support enforcement processes, including financial assessments and producing basic statistical/financial reports
• Maintain accurate time sheets on the day of attendance
