Job description

Our client, HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), is an agency of the Ministry of Justice that provides administrative support for the legal system across England and Wales, ensuring justice for everyone.

Our justice system defends fundamental rights and freedoms. It is essential to serve all individuals who rely on it, including vulnerable populations, families in crisis, claimants, and businesses. HMCTS is committed to administering an accessible and efficient justice system.

Our public sector client is seeking a temporary administrative officer to join their team until June 2025, with potential for extension based on business needs. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, typically from 9 am to 5 pm. The pay rate starts at £12.36 for the first 12 weeks, increasing to £12.53 from week 12, paid weekly.

This role is office-based due to the nature of the work, located at ST1 3BP.

Responsibilities include supporting court services with administrative tasks such as:

  • Preparing papers and files for court
  • Creating and updating records on the in-house computer system
  • Managing post opening and dispatch
  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards for administration documentation
  • Clerking courts, tribunals, and hearings, involving face-to-face contact with customers

The ideal candidate will have 12-18 months of administrative experience in a workplace setting and excellent customer service skills, as clerking duties are part of the role. Full training will be provided.
