Job summary

Rochdale Council is seeking an experienced school administrator to join our friendly and efficient office team. The role will include all the administration duties of a school office with key ownership of the attendance process for pupils.

This is a busy and varied role at the heart of our school, working with parents, children and school colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Experience in an educational setting, ideally within a primary school.
  • Good understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships with families and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage pupil attendance daily using Arbor.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and carers to support attendance.
  • Administer leave requests in line with guidance and policy.
  • Maintain accurate records and CME documentation.
  • Collate and analyse attendance data with school leaders to identify trends.
  • Prepare documentation for fixed penalty notices and liaise with Local Authority.
  • Support safeguarding by recognising and responding to attendance concerns.

Administration Assistant

Join our Office Team

We are seeking an experienced school administrator to join our friendly and efficient office team. The role will include all the administration duties of a school office with key ownership of the attendance process for pupils.

This is a busy and varied role at the heart of our school, working with parents, children and school colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Monitor and manage pupil attendance on a daily basis, ensuring accurate and effective use of Arbor.
  • Communicate professionally and sensitively with parents and carers to support good attendance and minimise pupil absence.
  • Administer procedures relating to requests for leave during term time in line with statutory guidance and school policy.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete documentation relating to Children Missing Education (CME).
  • Collate, monitor and analyse attendance information, working closely with the Children's Welfare Officer and school leaders to identify trends and implement appropriate actions.
  • Prepare and issue documentation relating to fixed penalty notices and liaise effectively with the Local Authority and other agencies where required.
  • Contribute to the school's safeguarding culture by recognising and responding appropriately to attendance concerns.

  • Has experience of working in an educational setting, ideally within a primary school.

  • Is highly organised, accurate and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
