Job summary

Lowerplace Primary is seeking an Administration Assistant to join our busy school office. You will handle attendance administration, maintain records, and support families and staff with a welcoming, efficient service.

Working pattern is term time only, with a permanent contract and an annual salary in the SCP range. The role is central to safeguarding and pupil welfare, requiring good communication and meticulous organisation to manage competing priorities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in an educational setting, ideally in a primary school.
  • Understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding links.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage pupil attendance daily.
  • Communicate with parents and carers to support attendance.
  • Administer term-time leave requests per policy.
  • Maintain accurate records and CME documentation.
  • Prepare documentation for fixed penalty notices and liaise with authorities.
  • Support safeguarding culture through attendance monitoring.

Administration Assistant
Join our Office Team

We are seeking an experienced school administrator to join our friendly and efficient office team. The role will include all the administration duties of a school office with key ownership of the attendance process for pupils.

This is a busy and varied role at the heart of our school, working with parents, children and school colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage pupil attendance on a daily basis, ensuring accurate and effective use of Arbor.
  • Communicate professionally and sensitively with parents and carers to support good attendance and minimise pupil absence.
  • Administer procedures relating to requests for leave during term time in line with statutory guidance and school policy.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete documentation relating to Children Missing Education (CME).
  • Collate, monitor and analyse attendance information, working closely with the Children’s Welfare Officer and school leaders to identify trends and implement appropriate actions.
  • Prepare and issue documentation relating to fixed penalty notices and liaise effectively with the Local Authority and other agencies where required.
  • Contribute to the school's safeguarding culture by recognising and responding appropriately to attendance concerns.

  • Has experience of working in an educational setting, ideally within a primary school.
  • Has a good understanding of attendance procedures and their crucial link to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
  • Is highly organised, accurate and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with families and external agencies.
  • Is resilient, proactive and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to inclusion and ensuring the best outcomes for all children.
