Administration Assistant
Slough Centre Nursery School are seeking to appoint a reliable, organised, and proactive Administrative Assistant to support the smooth day-to-day running of our organisation. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, good attention to detail, strong IT skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and an enhanced DBS clearance.
Salary- Pay Range: Level 4 – SCP 8 -12, £27,920 - £29,694 FTE.
Hours- 20.5 Hours per week, Term Time Only plus 5 inset days. 8.15am- 12.45pm – hours open to negotiation.
Contract Type- Fixed term, 1 year.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To receive any visitors to the school including parents, LEA officers, outside agencies etc. To ensure that all visitors follow the policy for signing in and out.
- To promote an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming.
- To receive, record, check and put away deliveries.
- To open and distribute incoming mail and post outgoing mail.
- To answer the telephone and deal with queries and messages in an appropriate manner.
- To input data onto the School Management package (SIMS).
- To carry out a variety of office duties as directed by School Office Manager/Head Teacher. To type letters and other documentation associated with the day-to-day running of the school.
- To take/make telephone calls in relation to the day-to-day management of the school.
- To file correspondence/records as directed by the School Office Manager To provide support for teaching staff with photocopying and filing.
- To ensure registers and attendance data are recorded correctly in school. Monitor persistent absences and unauthorised absences. To use the school attendance policy to follow up persistent absence.
- To develop positive relationships with staff and children.
- Undertake duties associated with the transfer of children to primary school including the preparation of children’s records.
- Undertake receipt and administration of applications for the Nursery.
- Book training courses as required.
- To maintain accurate training records for all staff on SIMS.
- To be responsible for the filing and housekeeping of children’s records.
- Deal with emails as and when required to do so.
- To record and monitor children’s accident forms.
- To issue HUGGs voucher.
- To set high standards of dress, language and behaviour.
- To attend in-service training.
- To support the ethos of the school and to implement School safety Policies and Codes of Practice and at all times, have regard for the Health and Safety of yourself and others.
- Organise and assist with reprographic work to include photo-copying, binding of documents and desk-top publishing
- To supervise the ordering of stock and allocation of stock.
- To maintain an open-door policy and line of enquiry for all parents in school
- Any other duties as may be required commensurate with the post.
