Job summary

New Chapters is a family-run service seeking a caring Support Worker in the Severn Beach area to support an individual with autism on a 2:1 basis. You will help with community activities, coordinate personalised schedules, and assist with personal care while maintaining dignity.

Shifts are 12 or 14 hours, with regular sleep-ins paid in addition to hourly pay. Visa sponsorship is not available; you must have the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Support Worker within a supported living setting.
• Excellent communication and listening skills; ability to support people who use different methods of communication.
• Calm, empathetic and level-headed in all situations, particularly when responding to challenging behaviour.
• Good standards of English, literacy and numeracy.
• Commitment to ongoing personal development and training.

Responsibilities

• Encourage participation in activities they enjoy and pursue interests, including community involvement.
• Coordinate scheduled activities and appointments using personalised rotas, liaising with others and ensuring attendance.
• Assist with personal care while maintaining dignity and privacy, or support and prompt independence where appropriate.
• Implement behaviour management strategies when required.
• Develop and implement care plans and maintain accurate records.
