Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Melrose is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift. The role is outdoors, in all weather, and involves building relationships with customers in the local area.

Full training and a uniform are provided, along with a red Royal Mail van. The position is fixed-term for 6 months, 30 hours per week, with some weekend work on a 5-in-6 rota; overtime is paid where applicable.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Able to walk long distances and work outdoors in all weathers.
• Reliable, self-motivated and well organised in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office.
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area.
• Build relationships with customers.
• Work outdoors in all weathers.
• Deliver high volumes of parcels during busy periods.
