Job summary

Sheridan Maine is recruiting an Accountant - Projects & Process Improvement for an established organisation in the UK. This role blends hands-on accounting with driving process improvements, automation and AI across multiple entities.

You will work in a small, collaborative team, with hybrid working after initial training and probation. ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, you will influence how finance operates and embrace technology to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Strong accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Experience of improving finance processes, systems or ways of working.
• Genuine interest in technology, automation and AI, with the confidence to apply these in a finance environment.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the preparation and review of management accounts, financial statements, VAT returns and audit information.
• Providing management-level review of financial information across multiple entities.
• Maintaining accurate investment information and developing efficient systems for managing financial and corporate records.
• Supporting company secretarial and governance requirements, including statutory filings and maintenance of company records.
• Identifying opportunities to improve finance and compliance processes through automation, technology and AI.
• Leading projects from initial concept through to implementation, including planning, specifications, testing and user adoption.
• Working with software providers and internal stakeholders to implement new systems and improvements.
• Acting as the internal champion for AI, identifying practical ways it can improve efficiency, reporting and knowledge management.
• Training colleagues in the effective use of new systems, technology and processes.
• Driving a continuous programme of process and efficiency improvements across the organisation.

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with an established and successful organisation to recruit an Accountant - Projects & Process Improvement.This is a genuinely interesting opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys the variety of a broad finance role but also has a passion for improving processes and finding better ways of working.Working as part of a small and collaborative team, you will combine your accounting expertise with responsibility for a range of projects focused on process improvement, systems, automation and the effective use of AI.This role would suit an accountant who is looking for something different from a traditional finance position and who enjoys having the opportunity to influence and improve the way an organisation operates.The role is based near the Somerset/Dorset border, with hybrid working available following an initial training and probationary period.

The Role

This is a varied role where no two days are likely to be the same, and you'll have the opportunity to become involved in both the hands-on finance activity and wider strategic projects.

About You

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Strong accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Experience of improving finance processes, systems or ways of working.
• A genuine interest in technology, automation and AI, with the confidence to explore how these can be applied practically within a finance environment.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues, management and external providers.
• A proactive, solution-focused approach and a desire to continually improve processes.

You don't need to be an IT specialist, we are looking for an accountant first and foremost, who is curious about technology and enjoys finding better ways of working.
