Job summary

Sheridan Maine is partnering with an established organisation to recruit an Accountant – Projects & Process Improvement near the Somerset/Dorset border. Based in Sherborne, this role blends core accounting duties with driving process improvements using automation and AI.

The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with 3+ years of experience, ready to influence systems and workflows while working in a collaborative finance team. Hybrid work is available after training.

Qualifications

ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification.
3+ years relevant accounting experience.
Experience improving finance processes and systems.
Interest in technology, automation and AI in finance.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Strong communication with colleagues and management.

Responsibilities

Support preparation and review of management accounts and financial statements.
Provide management-level review of financial information across entities.
Maintain investment information and develop efficient financial record systems.
Assist with company secretarial and governance duties, including statutory filings.
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes via automation, technology and AI.
Lead projects from concept to implementation with planning, specs, testing and adoption.
Collaborate with software providers and internal stakeholders to implement new systems.
Champion AI internally, exploring practical, secure efficiency gains.
Train colleagues in new systems, technology and processes.
Drive an ongoing programme of process and efficiency improvements.
