The Accountant – Projects & Process Improvement will join a close-knit finance function, blending core accounting duties with a focus on enhancing operational workflows. Working as part of a small and collaborative team, you will combine your accounting expertise with responsibility for a range of projects focused on process improvement, systems, automation and the effective use of AI. This role would suit an accountant who is looking for something different from a traditional finance position and who enjoys having the opportunity to influence and improve the way an organisation operates. The role is based near the Somerset/Dorset border, with hybrid working available following an initial training and probationary period.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the preparation and review of management accounts, financial statements, VAT returns and audit information.
• Providing management-level review of financial information across a number of entities.
• Maintaining accurate investment information and developing efficient systems for the management of financial and corporate records.
• Supporting company secretarial and corporate governance requirements, including statutory filings and maintenance of company records.
• Identifying opportunities to improve finance and compliance processes through automation, technology and AI.
• Leading projects from initial concept through to implementation, including project planning, system specifications, testing and user adoption.
• Working with software providers and internal stakeholders to implement new systems and improvements.
• Acting as the internal champion for AI, identifying practical and secure ways in which it can improve efficiency, reporting and knowledge management.
• Supporting and training colleagues in the effective use of new systems, technology and processes.
• Driving a continuous programme of process and efficiency improvements across the organisation.

About You

You are looking for a qualified accountant with at least three years' relevant experience who is looking for a role where they can make a real difference. You’ll ideally have:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Strong accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Experience of improving finance processes, systems or ways of working.
• A genuine interest in technology, automation and AI, with the confidence to explore how these can be applied practically within a finance environment.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues, management and external providers.
• A proactive, solution-focused approach and a desire to continually improve processes.
