Job summary

Howett Thorpe, a small and established accountancy practice in Woking, seeks an Accountancy Practice Manager to lead a small team and oversee client relationships. You will manage a varied mix of accounts and personal tax work, working closely with Partners to guide the practice's growth.

The role requires ACA/ACCA or equivalent, or strong QBE candidates, with hands-on leadership and a proactive approach to quality and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong accounts and personal tax knowledge.
• Experience reviewing work and maintaining quality standards.
• Good client management and communication skills.
• A hands-on approach and the confidence to take ownership.
• Experience supervising or supporting junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a small team and support their development
• Review accounts and other work prepared by the outsourced team
• Manage a portfolio of clients and act as a key point of contact
• Prepare and review personal tax returns
• Opportunity to get involved with trust work
• Work directly with the Partners on the running of the practice
• Review work to ensure accuracy and quality
• Identify and improve processes across the practice
• Help train and develop members of the team
• Support the Partners with wider business and growth plans
