Blackburn College is seeking a dedicated learning support assistant to work across all sites in Blackburn, supporting learners from entry to level 3, including A level and T levels. You will provide a proactive learning support service to help students progress in their studies and future employment, while fostering positive behaviours, attendance, and resilient attitudes to learning.

Working within Blackburn College on all sites, including Future Focus provision, delivered at the Launch Pad Centre, our new dedicated space in Blackburn Town Mall (formerly the Debenhams unit). Support will be provided for learners studying on courses from entry provision up to level 3 including A level and T levels.
As a key member of the Student Support and Engagement Team you will provide a high quality, proactive learning support service for students who have special educational needs and disabilities. You will support in working towards their chosen programme of study and long-term employment aspirations, prioritising developing positive behaviours, good attendance habits, and strong attitudes to learning essential foundations for success in education and beyond.
You will work with the curriculum team to ensure that all learners receiving support have the opportunities to achieve and exceed their potential, develop independence skills and have equal opportunities to progress into further study, employment and/or positive community engagement.
With experience of working in an education or care setting with young people with learning difficulties, disabilities and complex and physical needs, you will have Level 2 Maths and English or equivalent or willingness to achieve within 1 year. You should also have qualifications in learning support, care or education or a willingness to work towards.
You must have knowledge and understanding of barriers and issues faced by students with special educational needs and disabilities and strategies to overcome these.
