What we are looking for.

We are looking for 2 Admin and Tech Support Officers to join our award-winning team in Building Control. The successful person will share our values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities.

About the role

We are an established and highly respected team providing a regulatory and commercial service to the residents of Babergh and Mid Suffolk and beyond. We are working together with an integrated staffing structure to provide a joint Building Control Service across the districts with all the benefits of agile working.

With the challenges ahead of helping to bring about culture change within the construction industry, supporting the new Building Safety Regulator and furthering the role of the public sector in upholding standards in the built environment, the Building Control team can offer an exciting opportunity which has arisen within our admin and

technical support team to work across both authorities.

In this position you will:

  • be involved in all aspects of Building Control administration by providing support to the team in taking inspection requests, dealing with queries and processing applications, payments and invoicing.
  • administration of the Street Name and Numbering function and the carrying out of estimating, invoicing and collection of fees.
  • assist with the provision of accurate information to discharge Land Charge searches.
  • administration of the Building Safety Levy.
  • provide relevant reports to ensure Inspectors and Head of Service are kept fully informed and that the Councils have met their obligations under the relevant legislation.

The department provides a customer support function between 08.30 and 17.00 Monday to Friday although a degree of flexible working can be accommodated. Some attendance at our head office will be a requirement of the role, particularly whilst undertaking training.

About you

The ideal candidate needs to demonstrate that they are able to work as part of a team, to work on their own initiative whilst following documented procedures and escape any issues that they encounter.

It would be desirable for the candidate to have an understanding of the Building Control function, although not essential.

Several types of software are used, and full training will be given, however it is essential that candidates are confident using Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel and are familiar with processing emails and taking telephone calls.

You will be provided with full support for career and personal development to fulfil

your potential.

Benefits:

  • Competitive Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Wellbeing Support Program
