Job summary

Winbro in Shepshed is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our high-precision Toolroom. You will Set and operate 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC centres using Heidenhain controls to manufacture complex tooling and components from diverse materials.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you will read engineering drawings, apply tight tolerances to 0.010 mm, conduct in-process checks and collaborate with Engineering, Programming and Production teams to meet demanding customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating CNC centres with 3, 4 and 5 axis
• Strong knowledge of Heidenhain controls
• Ability to Set and Operate CNC machinery independently
• Apprentice trained or qualified through relevant engineering/manufacturing experience
• Experience in precision engineering, aerospace, toolroom or similar environments
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Experience machining to tight tolerances from 0.010 mm upwards
• Experience machining a wide range of materials including ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, polymers, ceramics & composites
• Strong understanding of tooling, cutting parameters and machining processes
• Numeracy, literacy and PC literacy

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC machining centres to manufacture precision tooling and components
• Produce components to exact engineering specifications and tight tolerances
• Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions and technical documentation
• Select and set appropriate tooling, fixtures and machining strategies
• Conduct in-process inspection and quality checks using precision measuring equipment
• Identify and resolve machining issues to minimise scrap and downtime
• Work collaboratively with Engineering, Programming and Production teams to ensure customer requirements are met
• Support the development and optimisation of machining processes
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment
