Job description

Fixed term / Secondment Opportunity until 31st March 2026

Are you passionate about clinical education and ready for a new challenge? We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and dynamic Clinical Educator to join the team in CBU2, which includes Surgical, Trauma, and Orthopaedics.

This secondment provides an excellent opportunity for professional development in a supportive and forward-thinking environment. You will work under the guidance of the Lead Clinical Educator based in ICU, with responsibilities of designing, planning, facilitating, and delivering high-quality education and training across CBU2. This will allow you to develop your skills as an autonomous practitioner while being a key part of dynamic multidisciplinary teams.

This secondment is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a clinical educator role, build leadership and management skills, and contribute to the development of others in busy and diverse clinical areas.

If seeking a secondment, please ensure you have the approval of your line manager for release.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and respond to the educational and developmental needs of staff within CBU2
  • Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs that support clinical excellence
  • Promote evidence-based practice and lifelong learning within the multidisciplinary team
  • Support the induction and ongoing development of new and existing staff
  • Collaborate with ward managers, senior clinicians, and the wider education team
  • Contribute to quality improvement and service development through education

Knowledge and Awareness
  • Knowledge of national and local agendas for acute care.
  • Understanding of specific patient needs within the department.
  • Awareness of current issues affecting healthcare education, including quality monitoring.
Experience
  • Substantial post-registration experience
  • Experience providing mentorship, practice supervision, and assessment to learners
  • Experience working within teams
  • Extensive experience in an acute clinical setting
  • Experience delivering training packages
