Job description

The post holder will support the Cardiac Division, including Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, and Transplant, with a focus on Cardiac Surgery at Wythenshawe Hospital. The role involves planning, co-ordinating, and evaluating education and training, working closely with general ward education teams and ward managers to standardize education across all areas. Responsibilities include supporting nurses in Phase 2 of ERAS, enhancing recovery after surgery skills such as inotropes, arterial and central line care, nasal high flow, and noradrenaline use.

Part-time hours: 16 per week.

The Post Holder Will:
  1. Structure, design, and promote practice-based education.
  2. Collaborate with the Corporate Practice-Based Educators (PBEs) and divisional teams to develop nursing and midwifery practice by promoting, maintaining, and coordinating education across WTWA Cardiac Division.
  3. Support policy and service development through effective evaluation and development of practice-based education.
  4. Utilize a wide range of clinical and technical skills to advise, supervise, demonstrate, and teach clinical staff.
  5. Ensure the Cardiac PBE delivers training and education aligned with WTWA Nursing and AHP Workforce and Education Strategy.
  6. Provide a clear focus for nurse training and education within the Cardiac Division.
  7. Offer support and leadership to ward/department managers and Divisional PBEs in education, CPD, capability, and performance.
  8. Assist in developing new initiatives related to clinical nursing practice, aligning with WTWA priorities and Nursing Strategy, including innovative education delivery methods.
  9. Support multi-professional, patient-centered education, collaborating with other professional groups as appropriate.
  10. Conduct comprehensive assessments of learning needs across nursing, liaising with clinical teams.
  11. Work with AHP colleagues to support their educational needs as appropriate.
