Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Street Cleansing Operative for Padworth, Reading (RG7). You will drive a 3.5 tonne street cleansing vehicle and help protect the natural environment across West Berkshire.

This role involves outdoor work in all weather, manual handling, and reporting safety concerns. A full UK Driving Licence (Cat B) is required and you will work a 40-hour week with overtime paid according to the schedule.

Qualifications

• Previous operational / manual handling experience.
• Full UK Driving licence - Cat B.
• Knowledge of street cleansing is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Driving a street cleansing 3.5 tonne vehicle.
• Protect the natural environment of the West Berkshire area and keep public spaces clean.
• Report locations of fly tipping, graffiti, fly posting or damaged/missing litter bins and any safety concerns.
• Check vehicle at start and end of shift, ensure roadworthiness, cleanliness and signage.

What will you be doing?

• Driving a street cleansing 3.5 tonne vehicle
• You will have a key role protecting the natural environment of the West Berkshire area, maintain and clean public areas including cleansing of streets (which can include footways, channels, alleys, central reservations, subways, traffic islands as well as under or around street furniture) using the equipment provided
• Report locations of any fly tipping, graffiti, fly posting or damaged/missing litter bins as you travel around the area, as well as any safety concerns, incidents or accidents.
• Checking your vehicle at the start and the end of shift, ensuring the vehicle is roadworthy and is tipped, washed and the cab is left hygienic, clear of litter, uniform and personal effects.

M1/M2 traffic management training will be provided upon completion of probationary period.
