Job summary

LA International is seeking a 2nd Line WINTEL Engineer to support Windows Server environments across 2016, 2019 and 2022. You will build and maintain servers on VMware, create gold images, and manage AD, DNS and WSUS with enterprise tooling.

You will patch, upgrade, back up critical infrastructure with NetApp Cohesity, and produce capacity reports. Strong ITIL/ITSM experience and DV clearance eligibility are required, with a path to security clearance prior to appointment.

Qualifications

• Proven 2nd line WINTEL/Windows Server infrastructure support.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022.
• Experience with AD, DNS and WSUS; VMware environments.
• Experience with NetApp/Cohesity backup; PowerShell scripting.
• Familiarity with ITIL, ITSM and Change/Release/Configuration Management.
• Security clearance or prior eligibility for DV clearance is advantageous.

2nd Line WINTEL Engineer

2nd Line WINTEL Engineer Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd Line technical support across Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022 environments.
• Build, configure and maintain Windows Servers hosted on VMware clusters.
• Create and maintain automated server builds, gold images, build documentation and work instructions.
• Install, configure and rack physical servers within data centres.
• Perform Windows Server patching, upgrades and ongoing maintenance.
• Support Active Directory, DNS and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
• Investigate and resolve incidents and service requests using ITSM tooling.
• Support backup infrastructure, including NetApp SAN and Cohesity.
• Monitor infrastructure performance and produce capacity management reports.
• Maintain compliance with Change, Release, Configuration and Security Management processes.
• Support infrastructure testing, troubleshooting and project delivery activities.
• Manage service desk tickets within agreed SLAs and KPIs.
• Identify and escalate technical risks, issues and delivery dependencies.
• Attend engineering meetings and provide progress updates to stakeholders.

2nd Line WINTEL Engineer Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in a 2nd Line WINTEL or Windows Server infrastructure support role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory, DNS and WSUS.
• Experience supporting VMware virtualisation environments.
• Knowledge of Windows Server builds, gold images, patching and upgrades.
• Experience with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
• Knowledge of backup technologies, particularly NetApp SAN and Cohesity.
• Scripting and automation experience, ideally using PowerShell.
• Experience supporting physical and virtual server infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident management and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of ITIL processes, including Change, Release and Configuration Management.
• Experience working with ITSM tools and delivering against SLAs and KPIs.
• Strong communication, customer service and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience supporting secure infrastructure or Defence environments would be advantageous.
