Job summary

Experis UK is seeking an experienced 3rd Line WINTEL Engineer to join our Stevenage team, delivering expert Windows infrastructure support in a security-cleared environment.

The role is office-based, working with VMware, NetApp Cohesity, and other enterprise technologies to maintain high availability, security, and performance across critical systems, in collaboration with 2nd and 3rd line teams.

Qualifications

• Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration.
• Active Directory and DNS management.
• WSUS patching and lifecycle management.
• PowerShell or scripting experience.
• Experience with VMware virtualization.
• Storage and backup technologies (NetApp SAN, Cohesity).
• SCOM monitoring and incident response.
• Experience in secure or highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Review and deliver Windows-related requests with quality and speed.
• Build, configure, and deploy Windows Server environments ( VMware-based).
• Create and maintain build docs, runbooks, and automation scripts.
• Rack and deploy physical servers in data centres.
• Maintain gold build images and patch lifecycles.
• Produce capacity reports and attend engineering reviews.
• Investigate issues and resolve within SLAs.
• Support tests and deployments across projects and services.

The Opportunity

Experis is seeking an experienced 3rd Line WINTEL Engineer to join a team of skilled 2nd and 3rd Line support professionals based in Stevenage. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a high-profile, security-cleared environment, supporting critical infrastructure and a demanding user community.

This is a fully office-based position due to the nature of the support requirements. You'll work closely with customers, stakeholders, and technical teams, delivering expert support and infrastructure engineering services while ensuring high levels of system availability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and deliver Windows-related customer work requests with a focus on quality and rapid turnaround.
• Build, configure, and deploy Windows Server environments, primarily virtualised on VMware platforms.
• Create and maintain build documentation, work instructions, and automation scripts.
• Build, rack, and deploy physical servers within customer data centres and computer rooms.
• Maintain and update gold build images.
• Perform Windows Server patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Produce capacity management reports and provide updates at engineering review meetings.
• Investigate, assess, and resolve infrastructure and customer issues within agreed SLAs.
• Support testing and implementation activities across projects and operational services.
• Identify and elevate risks, issues, and dependencies that could impact delivery.
• Ensure compliance with change, release, configuration, security, and service management processes.
• Maintain the security and integrity of network services in line with operational and security requirements.

Working Hours

• 37 hours per week
• Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 19:00
• Typical shift patterns:
• 07:00 - 15:30
• 10:30 - 19:00
• Overtime may be available, including occasional weekend work
