Job summary

Blenheim Schools in Huddersfield is seeking a 2nd Line IT Service Desk Site Engineer to provide expert technical support across a busy environment. Based primarily at our Huddersfield site, you will resolve 2nd line incidents, support users onsite and remotely, and act as escalation for the wider team.

You will manage Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD and Google Workspace, configure devices, and contribute to service improvements while working with infrastructure and security experts.

Qualifications

• Experience in 2nd Line IT Support or IT Engineer role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, AD, M365, Azure AD and Google Workspace.
• Experience with cloud technologies, hardware and user devices.
• Understanding of networking and security best practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting and customer-focused communication.

Responsibilities

• Resolve 2nd line IT incidents, requests and technical issues.
• Act as escalation point for Service Desk Engineers across sites.
• Manage user accounts, permissions and access across AD, M365, Azure AD and Google Workspace.
• Support server, network, cloud, telephony and cyber security environments.

Role Purpose

We're looking for a 2nd Line IT Service Desk Site Engineer to join our growing IT team, providing expert technical support across a busy and dynamic environment. Based primarily at a site in Huddersfield, you'll play a key role in ensuring systems, devices, networks, and cloud services operate efficiently, helping colleagues stay connected and productive every day. As a 2nd Line IT Service Desk Site Engineer, you'll be responsible for resolving complex technical issues, supporting users both onsite and remotely, and acting as an escalation point for the wider support team. You'll work closely with colleagues across IT to improve services, implement new technologies, and contribute to projects that enhance the user experience. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on support role and wants to further develop their technical expertise while working alongside experienced infrastructure, applications, and service desk professionals.

What you will be doing

• Resolve 2nd line IT incidents, service requests, and technical issues.
• Act as an escalation point for Service Desk Engineers and support sites across the organisation.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access across Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Google Workspace.
• Support server, network, cloud, telephony, and cyber security environments.
• Configure and deploy laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, and other hardware.
• Manage devices through Microsoft Intune and/or Jamf.
• Investigate recurring issues, identify root causes, and contribute to service improvements.
• Assist with IT projects, technology rollouts, and maintenance of technical documentation.

What you will bring

• Experienced in a 2nd Line IT Support, Service Desk, or IT Engineer role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Google Workspace.
• Experience supporting cloud technologies, hardware, software, and user devices.
• Understanding of networking technologies including Cisco Meraki, LAN/WAN, and web filtering.
• Experience with Microsoft Intune and/or Jamf device management.
• Knowledge of IT security, cyber security best practice, and compliance requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
