2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Cardiff - Hybrid

Net Consulting is seeking a skilled and motivated Level 2 Infrastructure Engineer to support and maintain a wide range of enterprise technologies across hybrid environments. This role is ideal for professionals with hands‑on experience in troubleshooting Linux operating systems and network technologies.

Based primarily at a client site in our Cardiff offices with occasional travel to other customer locations. You will be responsible for supporting critical infrastructure components.

This is a dynamic opportunity to work in a fast‑paced, secure environment, contributing to the stability, performance, and security of enterprise systems. You must be eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearance, with the potential to progress to Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.

Responsibilities

Provide Level 2 support for:

  • Linux and Windows Server environments
  • Networking: Cisco switches and Juniper firewalls
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents; escalation when needed.
  • Monitor system performance and security
  • Apply patches, upgrades, and configuration changes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow escalation paths.
Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Previous experience in Level 2 infrastructure or systems support.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in Linux and network technologies.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Networking (Cisco/Juniper)
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Eligible for UK SC/DV clearance
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
  • Awareness of container technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Basic scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
  • Exposure to ITIL processes and secure environments.
