NHS Dumfries and Galloway is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker to join the Learning Disability Team. You will work under the supervision of registered nurses to deliver person-centred care and support people with learning disabilities in community settings.
You will provide practical and emotional support to individuals and families, help them access healthcare services, promote independence, contribute to behavioural support and anxiety management, and monitor progress with the team.

The team works closely with individuals, families, carers, and partner agencies to provide person-centred care that meets each individual’s needs.
As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will work under the supervision and direction of registered nurses within the Learning Disability Team. You will support the delivery of person-centred care and interventions for people with learning disabilities across community settings.
Key responsibilities include; Providing practical and emotional support to people with learning disabilities and their families/carers; Assisting individuals to access healthcare services and promoting health improvement; Contributing to behavioural support interventions and low-level anxiety management strategies; Monitoring and recording progress, reporting concerns and changes in presentation to registered staff; Participating in health promotion activities, wellbeing initiatives and community-based programmes; Working collaboratively with health, social care and third-sector partners.
